Adult Cardiac Surgery Operations
The University of Virginia has long been recognized for its strength in cardiac surgery. Over the past several years, the variety of procedures performed at the University of Virginia has changed with a much larger proportion of our patients undergoing valve or complex cardiac operations including aneurysms and ventricular assist devices (VADS). This steady flow of complex cardiac operations has resulted in an expansion of our faculty and resources in order to provide continued excellent care for our patients. Our cardiac surgeons at UVA each perform more surgeries than the majority of surgeons in the United States. We perform the full range of cardiac surgical procedures, including minimally-invasive approaches, as well as all the more complex operations.
