Fellowship Graduates

We are especially proud of the cardiothoracic surgeons who have received their education and training at the University of Virginia. We view the education of these men and women as one of the primary goals of our program. Since the program’s inception in 1955 we have trained over 100 residents. The clinical volumes and the educational value of the program have increased such that we have transitioned from accepting one resident per year to three residents per year currently. Approximately 50% of the surgeons we have trained have practices in Academics, while the remaining 50% are in private practice or with University affiliations.

It is not possible to list all the graduates of our program, but we do list those who have finished in the last 12 years. This includes some superb international surgeons who have enhanced their education and training by spending time with our faculty within the Division of Thoracic & Cardiovascular Surgery.
